A Little Background Info on Amazon.com:
Amazon is truly one of the biggest successes – if not the biggest success – of the internet revolution. Started by Jeff Bezos in 1994, the initial operation was famously run out of Bezos’ garage in Bellevue, Washington. As was mentioned earlier, Amazon started out as a bookseller, but that model quickly developed to include a great variety of other products. The first sale took place in July of 1995, and the IPO for trading on the NASDAQ was issued less than two years later.
While the history of Amazon could fill up several books with all of the various directions that the company has taken since the beginning, one of the most-interesting elements of the business is the Amazon Prime membership. It could be argued that the development of the Prime membership is one of the key ingredients to the success of Amazon, as it gives shoppers a reason to return to the site time and time again to make purchases. By paying a small annual fee, an Amazon Prime membership gives members access to free two-day shipping on a tremendous number of items. Also, Prime members have access to a number of other features, such as music and streaming video. The Prime program has been incredibly popular, and certainly serves as a funnel to bring more and more people into the Amazon world.
Amazon.com on the Web:
For those who use social media on a daily basis, keeping track of business accounts is a great way to find deals, get news on new products, and more. Of course, as a technology leader, Amazon is quite active on social media, with active accounts on Facebook and Twitter, among others. As yet another representation of the popularity of the Amazon brand, their official Facebook page has amassed almost 27 million likes to this point. Their Twitter account is no slouch, either, with over 2.4 million followers.
@Amazondeals – Amazon has many Twitter accounts, and this one is our favorite. Why? This is a feed of all of Amazon’s current deals that they are offering. This account is definitely worth a follow.
One of the best reasons to follow these accounts is the opportunity to receive prompt customer support when necessary. Scanning the social media activity of these accounts shows that there is frequently a representative of the company interacting with someone who has posted a question or complaint. If for no other reason, you should consider following these accounts for the ability to connect with Amazon representatives when needed.
Amazon.com on YouTube:
If you aren’t much for social media, or if you just would like to connect to Amazon in yet another way, you may wish to check out their YouTube channel. New videos are added to this channel at an impressive rate, meaning you will frequently have some new content to enjoy. Rather than just promos, there are many helpful videos added to the channel, including cooking tips, gift ideas, and much more.
