Sometimes being in a hotel if you need to stay for a couple weeks or more can be limiting: no cooking or refrigerators to store food. Studio6 locations are designed for people staying for longer durations. They’re all equipped with kitchens. And they are much cheaper than renting a Motel6 room at the regular daily-rate.

- Kids Stay Free! If you’re traveling with family, this is a great way to save money: all kids under 17 can stay for free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Motel 6 Check-in Time: When is it?
According to its website, check-in times are typically 3pm. That’s when your room should be available. If you arrive early, they may be able to accommodate you and check you in early, but there’s no guarantee.
What About Check-Out Time?
Most of the time, check-out time for all Motel6 locations is 12pm. However, if you want late checkout, you need to arrange that at the front desk (at least) the day beforehand.
Do My6 members Get a Late Checkout Time?
That’s what we asked, but sadly no. Checkout time is 12 regardless, unless you arrange it with the hotel staff first.
Does Motel 6 Have Free WiFi?
Yes and no. It depends on the location. Many locations throughout the United States and the world offer free wifi, but some locations charge $2.99 for 24 hours for access to the internet. You’ll need to google your particular motel to find out if it offers wifi free-of-charge or not.
Motel6’s Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your reservation for whatever reason, the rules about it depend on whether you have reserved your room with a credit card or not.
If you reserved your room online, but did not use a credit card, then it is guaranteed to be held for you only up until 6pm the day of your reservation. If you did use a credit card, then they’ll hold it all night for you.
If you want to cancel a guaranteed reservation (meaning you used a credit card or already pre-paid for it), then you need to either cancel it online, call their call center (we’ll give the phone number below), or call that particular location by 6pm (4pm at some locations) to cancel it.
Motel6 Customer Support:
You can call their Reservation Center if you need to cancel, or change, your reservation with this number: 1-800-899-9841
Reservation Support (Email):

A Little Background Info on Motel 6:
What is now one of the most-recognized brand names in the United States started out as a single location in 1962 in Santa Barbara, California. Founded by William Becker and Paul Greene, the first Motel 6 opened in Santa Barbara with a nightly rate of – you guessed it – $6. The concept was simple – Motel 6 would offer simple, no-frills lodging for discount prices. Believe it or not, some of the early Motel 6 locations even included TV’s that were coin-operated. While that feature has obviously been left in the past, many of the cost-saving measures that were originally used to develop the brand are still in use to this day.
This concept was wildly successful, and Motel 6 quickly grew from a single location into a popular chain. Within just four years, there were already 25 locations in operation, and the chain had moved beyond the borders of the state of California. The original founders of the company sold it to an investment group in 1968, just six years after opening the first location. Today, Motel 6 is owned by The Blackstone Group, and there are more than 1,000 locations in existence.
Motel 6 on the Web:
Social media is one of the best ways for companies to keep in touch with their target market – and that is certainly true for hotel chains. The typical customer for a hotel chain like Motel 6 is someone who is always on the go, meaning they will likely use social media to get quick and timely updates on what is going on in the world. It is no surprise, then, that Motel 6 effectively uses a number of social media channels like Facebook and Twitter to connect with its audience.
A quick look at the Facebook page for Motel 6 will show you that they update their feed with a new post every couple of days. One of the nice things about following this page is the fact that every single message is not a marketing blast – many of their posts are simply links to interesting travel articles that you may enjoy. Of course there is some promotional material as well, including occasional contests which will allow you to win a free night’s stay or something similar. If you are a regular traveler and you keep Motel 6 on your short list of options when you need an affordable night, it is certainly worth following them on the social media channel of your choice.
